"FRESH GUYS."

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I feel exceedingly reluctant to have to criticise the behaviour of a certain class in the vicinity of the "Star" Office, Holler Mills and the back of the old post office in Fort St., and Nathan's. Customs Street, towards ladies without escort. I refer to the youth in the adolescent stage and the man of mature asre. "ho seem to make a hobby of whistling, blowing motor horns, and calling out personal remarks after young ladies, much to their embarrassment and distress, who happen to be passine a lons these streets. It seeme incredible that anyone can be so devoid of chivalry and courtesy towards the fair sex, and behave m this unseemly manner. How would these same people like their mothers, sisters, wives, or daughters to be similarly treated? They -would be the first to resent it. unless they had descended to such a depth of desra'dation that nothinoin this world mattered. There is no glorification in this abommable practice and the fact that only the unprotected are subject to these attacks demonstrates tuat it is cowardly in the extreme. Such tactics can only be the outcome of ignorance and bad breeding, and if continued should be -met with stringent measures, which, no doubt, would have a salutary effect.—l am. etc. LOOKER ON.
