AQUATICS.
(By SPEEDWELL.)
More than usual interest is being taken by boating men generally in Auckland's oldest aquatic function, the Anniversary Day Regatta. The programme has been published, and while the actual events differ very little from that of the last two or three years, there are several additions and changes, while the prize money is a bit more evenly distributed, the classes with the largest entries coming in for a little extra. The Jellicoe boats have two events, the Lipton Cup in the morning and the Ross Cup in the afternoon, both of which carry additional prize money provided boats from outside Auckland Province compete. Last year visiting Sanders Cup contestants lifted both these trophies and it is hoped that Konini may come from Napier to take part in these races. In any case, these two events should draw good entries as they will be handicap events, except that the first boat home in each race will .take the cup, the money prizes going to the winners on time. The power-driven section of the fleet are especially well catered for this year. All the regular classes from seven knotters up have a race, while one or two innovations have been introduced into the speed section. The principal event will be the Anniversary Regatta
