CARLTON V. WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.* WELLINGTON, Monday. \ Five rinks of bowlers from the Carlton Club, Auckland, who are to meet the Wellington Club in the Thomson Shield match, arrived by express to-day, and were cordially - welcomed. The weather was ' splendid. In addition to the shield matches a series of ordinary games was arranged for the afternoon. The visitors played a. game against Thorndou, which was most interesting and exciting, the visitors eventually winning by 96 to 94. Following are the scores (Carlton mentioned firat) : IJnffen 17. v. Hart »16; Thomson 16, v. Johnson 17; Trnscott 30, v. Stiallcrass 22; Kllgour 19, v. Mason 20; Hoskiug 14, v. Thomson 19. After the match all the bowlers adjourned to the pavilion, where the usual felicitous speeches were made, and cheers wore given for the visitors and for the Thorndon Club.
