ANNIVERSARY REGATTA.

RACING OFFICIALS ELECTED. THE QUESTION OF FAIR-PLAY MEN. A well-attended meeting of the Auckland Anniversary Regatta Committee was held last evening in the Navy League rooms, Mr. B. W. Beaumont presiding. _ The report of the Programme and Publicity Committee, recommending' several alterations in the classification, courses, etc., was adopted, with minor alterations. The question of carrying fair-play men in the mullet boat classes gave rise to considerable discussion as to the ' merits of the present system, and it was finally decided to_ abolish them, but to ; take the necessary steps to see that this class of boat carried the minimum 1 amount of ballast stipulated for her class. Tlie rules of the Yacht 'Racing Associa- • tion of Great Britain were adopted for all regatta events. Tlie suggestion of the Bub-committee '■ to hold three speed boat events, the ' winner to be decided on points, caused 1 some comment, but the idea was ap--1 proved, details .being referred to the • Launcli Racing Committee to report. It > was decided to add a handicap to the two ' events for the Jellicoe class, but that ; the Jellicoe Cup and >the Ross Cup be ; won by the first boat to finish in their ■ respective races. The tender of Messrs. Abel, Dykes, 1 Ltd., for programme rights was accepted. The following officials for Regatta Day 1 were elected: Starter, Mr. G. Mobberley; " assistants, Messrs. 0. Johnson, E. Grif--1 fiths and J. McGehan; judge, Mr. J. 1 Longbottom; timekeepers, Messrs. E. S. Kohn and 0. Johnson; recorder, Mr. A. ' Braund; results, Messrs. A. Braund, G. E. Laycock and H. R. Arthur; sailing committee, Messrs. G. Mackenzie, A. Braund, W. A. Wilkinson, J. Garrett, A. Hodgson, R. yDacre, J. Longbottom, W. Gobdison, G. Miller, A. F. Smith, R. Lidgard and J. C. Woodley; handicappcrs A and B classes, R.N.Z. Yacht ■ Squadron; all other classes, representatives from Akarana, Ponsonby," Victoria and Takapuna Clubs. Motor boat officials: Starter, Mr. E. L. Buchanan; assistant starter, Mr. W. D. Boss; judge, Mr. A. G. Lunn; timekeeper, Mr. A. M. Wilson; handicappers, Messrs. E. J. Kelly, W. D. Ross,*E. L. Buchanan, W. Utting and W. A.
