BANKRUPTS BOTH IN PRISON. FAILURE OF TWO BROTHERS. A bankruptcy, in which the two debtors Avere reported to be in prison, came before the Official Assignee (Mr. W. S. Fisher) to-day. Harry White FretweLl and Thomas Malcolm Fretwell, who produced separate schedules, were recently farming at Waerenga. They ' were imprisoned in November, 1023, for a term of three years. In the schedule of H. W. Fretwell, it was shown that the liabilities to unsecured creditors amounted to £906 2/5. The assets consisted of a second mortgage, valued at £524, and a number of fully paid up shares, valued at £10, | leaving a nominal deficiency of £372 12/5. The liabilities of T. M. Fretwell amounted to £637 16/, and there were no assets. Mr. Fisher reported that the two bankrupt brothers had been farming at Waerenga, where they had a property of 80 acres. Mr. A. M. Gould,'* who represented the only creditor present at the meeting, said that the property had been conveyed to Archibald Charles Fretwell. He raised the question as to the legality of the conveyance; and it was decided to adjourn the meeting until December 17 to obtain information on the point, and also to summon A. C. Fretwell to attend and supply information as to what bad become of the stock and implements on the farm, and also of his transactions with, and on behalf of, H. W. Fretwell.
