FIJI'S MEAT INDUSTRY.
(From Our Special Correspondent.) SUVA, November 25. The Hon. Henry Marks, CMB.E., has returned from the estate of Tova in the north end of this island, on behalf of the Fiji Development Company, in which he is largely interested financially. He'went tip to pick the final site for tllO proposed" incat canning factory, and before he left had tbe pleasure of Seeing the concrete foundations of the packing room and labelling room completed, and also the beginning of the bulk store. The work of levelling the Bite for the main-factory was well.in hand. He' was very amused at the great excitement and curiosity shown by. tho district natives, and even the local Indians, Who had never seen aiich work before, and great crowds gathered from far- and near to wfttcii the work., Besides the fencing already finisbed on the main estate, another paddock of 3000 acres is being fenced, and another paddock of 1500 acres nearer the sea" is then to bo fenced also. Ample. facilities will be provided for tho quick handling of stock from the. sea. front (most of the stock will come from overseas to Tova, although the company will hrtve a large herd of its own a 6 AVell).
