OBITUARY.
SIR LATTCHIAN MACKINNON. LONDON, December 4. Sir Lauchlan Mackinnon, one of the proprietors of the "Melbourne Argus," has died at Downes, near Crediton, Devonshire. He had a serious heart! attack a fortnight asro, and his condition had since caused anxiety.—(A. and N.Z.) Sirv Lauchlan Charles Mackinnon was p born in the Isle of Skye, Scotland, in v 1848, and arrived in Australia in 1870. 1 He became general manager of the "Mcl- -) bourne Argus" and the'"Australasian" a in 1880, and proprietor of tbe Mackinnon P share of the "Argus" on the death of the d orginal proprietor, Mr. Lauchlan Mac- n kinnon, in 1888.,. He retired from the position of general manaeer in J919, * after having been actively associated G with the direction of the 'Argus'' tad -E the "Australasian" for 50 years. He was Knighted in 1916. * j c
