. PREFIAEING FOR SIX MILLION • . VISITORS. ■ .America will play host to the world next June in the great Sesqui-Centennial Exposition at Philadelphia. The terms of the invitation from the President of the United States are not yet known, but it is probable that athletes from .various parts of the Empire may be urged to play their part in the international contests in the mammoth i stadium which cost £400,000. This . stadium, which is the gift of the city of . Philadelphia, will hold 200,000 spectators. An entirely novel note in the exhibi- • tion will be struck by the "Glad Way," which will comprise 130 acres of amuseI ments. . Radio progress will be shown in a .[remarkable display and by demonstrate tions. Some of -the foremost experts in j the United States are already at work i on spectacular exhibitions. Miillons of money will be represented iin the 670 acres eefc apart. One of the , many palaces to be erected will cost £300,000, and each palace will occupy . about nine acres. Twenty-one nations • are preparing their exhibits. Three main railways will he run right into the grounds, and plans have been ■■ j made to accommodate the six million visitors expected to arrive by coastal and ■river steamers in the half-year from next June. . . Among the most popular attractions will be the magnificent pageants, including the ■ voyage :of Columbus and—the adventurous tour of Lief Ericsen.
