The severity of the last winter revealed scores of families without blankets, and as a result of the magnificent effort of the Commercial Travellers, the major was-enabled to distribute four hundred pairs, which brought comfort to so many, and this in addifon to the multitudinous duties! which also comprises that of probation! ary officer for the Auckland district, La 8 " been a severe task, and taxed the strength of.herself and her assistantEnsign Thackwell. It is pleasing to know that the Army authorities have recognised her labour , during the year, in her promotion to the Tank p{ "maior."
