The Mount Albert Borough 'Council is willing to assist Mount Roskill in the suppression of ares, but cannot accept any responsibility iv this connection. The installation oi a slot telephone on Dominion Koad adjacent to the intersection of Duke Street, cannot lie approved ut present, as it would involve an of approximating £230, and would result in considerable loss on working.

Davis asked permission to supply water to his residence U> Restrevor Avenue with water through one ; pipe from the main, and the board to charge only; one minimum fee per quarter and the "usual charge for the excess consumption over 6000 gallons. As Mr. Davis has converted his. house into four fiats the board's officer -bad-informed him that-he would require a separate meter for each flat, and to pay the minimum charge for each. In the discussion which followed, members said if Mr..' Davis had a boardlnghouse and kept 'hoarders he would only be required to instill one water meter. Decision was deferred for a fortnight, and a legal opinion obtained in the meantime. : Drainage.—Dr. T. J. Hughes, Medical Officer of Health, adrised the board that he had been in communication with the enr igineer of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board, and, although he, was. unable to' give any indication of the'probable date_ when the branch sewer will be available' for the Mount Roskill West sewer reticulation to connect, it appears that it would be some considerable time before Mount Roskill West district would be sewered. Dr. Hughes, therefore, was of opinion that in the "meantime the Mount Roskill Road Board, as guardians of the public health* .should see that nightsoil is not buried on small sections, and should define the size of sections on which tho same may be •burled within the district and to enforce the same. Mr. W. W. Kerr suggested that ___1 11 . pa - Ter * i" that area should he com+h ,t .' b , ay " thelv nightsoil removed, and Th» a h l, , y " la '- v be drafted for that purpose. vp_a„S..- rm ' l . sald the Proposal would be act thus' nm } llskpd lf " ™ ul 'l he wise to -listrlct mwu ".
