TRAIN OVERLOADED.

DELAY ON NORTHERN LINE. <By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. A mixed passenger train which left Whangarei for Maungaturoto yesterday afternoon contained heavy " consignments of goods, which made up a long rake of wagons, with a total tonnage of 470. tons. The passenger carriages were situated at the rear of the goods wagons. In spite of one of the new, big engines being used it was found impossible to take the Mangapai up-grade with a full load, so the train was broken, half being taken on, while the passengers had to endure a compulsory wait, with part of. the train securely braked on the hill, till the engine could return for the second portion. This occasioned considerable delay.
