BUSES IN QUEEN STREET.
EXCLUSION FOR BUST NIGHTS. SUNDAY AND HOLIDAY TRAFFIC. The city solicitor last night submitted to the City Council the following draft of suggested amendments to the traffic ■by-laws, consequent on Mr. Justice Reed's decision on the matter of buses running in Queen Street: — "Provided that this shall not apply on Sundays or public holidays, or between the hours of 0.30 p.m. of any day and 6 a.m. on the following morning, except on special days when the Council may from time to time by resolution determine that owing to the volume of traffic which may be likely to be using that part of Queen Street on those days, all vehicular traffic shall be excluded." Sub-clause (a) of sub-section 1 of section 890 of by-law No. 1 is hereby annexed by inserting therein the following provisions: "On Sundays and public holidays between the hours of 8.30 p.m. of any day and 6 a.m. of the following morning (except on special days "when the Council may from time to time by I resolution determine that owing to the volume of traffic which may be likely to be using that part of Queen Street on those days all vehicular traffic shall be excluded) omnibuses plying to the places mentioned in this sub-clause may proceed via Quay Street West and Queen Street to the corner of Queen Street, Wellesley Street or Grey Street respectively, and thereafter as provided in this subclause, and vice versa on the return journey to Customs Street, and then via Customs Street West to the etand." Sub-clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 890 of by-law No. 1 is hereby amended by inserting therein the following provision: "On Sundays and public holidays, and between the hours of 6.30 p.m. of any day and G a.m. of the following morning (except on special days when the Council may from time to time by resolution determine that owing to the volume of traffic which may be likely to be using that part of Queen Street on those days, all vehicular traffic shall be excluded), omnibuses proceeding to Remuera, Ellerslie, Howick, Otahuhu, Onehunga, Buckland Road, and places in those directions or beyond may proceed via Quay Street West, Queen Street and Wellesley Street East, or Queen Street and thereafter as provided in this sub-clause, and vice versa on the return journey to Customs Street, then via Customs Street West to the stand, afid omnibuses proceeding to Grey Lynn, Richmond Road and places in those directions or beyond shall proceed via Quay Street West, Queen Street and Wellesley Street West, or Queen Street and thereafter as provided in this subcause, and vice versa on the return journey to Customs Street and then via Customs Street West to the stand."
