SCHOOL BOOKS.
UNIFORMITY ENFORCED. (By Telegraph.—O.vu Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. An Ordev-iu-Council has been issued which aims at reducing the cost of school books to parents of children in this primary schools. It directs that from January 1 the following shall be the only class books that teachers in the public schools shall be authorised to require their pupils to purchase for schools' use: Reading: School Journal (free), supplementary readers (free), Live Readers (Whiteombe and Tombs) for preparatory class only; New Beacon reader's books, 1 to 4 (Ginn and Co.), ror preparatory classes only. English grammar and composition: Lessons in English History, Story of the British Nation Geography: Pacific Geographies. Arithmetic: Progressive Arithmetic. Writing: Progressive copy books. Atlas: Any inexpensive atlas.
