CIVIC LEAGUE.
SOME CITY NEEDS.
INVESTIGATION ASKED FOR
The Civic League wrote to the City Council recently, asking that the council instruct the town clerk and the manager of tramways to acquire data from abroad on: —
1. As regards town clerk: (a) Methods of garbage collection and destruction, clean-up days, and treatment of matter such as is "rejected by the Auckland destructor; (b) municipally-run rest rooms for women and children: (c) public lavatories and conveniences, and the extent to which liquid soap and paper towels are used abroad; (d) sanitary handling of foodstuffs, particularly milk, bread and meat: (c) extent to which erection of advertising hoardings are permitted to .be erected in metropolitan areas; and (f) provision by municipalities for the protection of children at public reserves, picture theatres, etc 2. As regards manager of tramways: Cartage of infants' go-carts on municipal conveyances. It was decided to call the attention of the officers concerned to the request.
