Fire Inst, hight did extensive damage to the premises of Anderson and Co., boot manufacturers, Church Street. The outbreak was discovered at f1.50, ■when {he flames liad a strong hold, Fanned by a strong wind, the flames continued their- work of destruction, despite ,the efforts of the brigade, and before they were suppressed a great amount of damage was done. The stock was highly inflammable, and burned fiercely. Much damage was clone to the machinery by lire anil water, but it is impossible to assess the amount at present, whilst the stock suffered heavily, the-whole being reduced to debris. The fire will throw a considerable number of workers out of employment, and a considerable time must elapse ; before business* can be resumed.
