ONLY HALF RECORDED. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WANGANUI, this day. When the Ratana party were about to embark for their trip to America [overtures were made to them to support ■ Sir Maui Pomare. There was consequently a good deal of speculation as to what promises Batana had made to Sir Maui Pomare, and how members of the Ratana movement would vote. The natives when approached were very discreet, and invariably would reply that Mr. Downs, manager of the Ratana Bank, was the man who was fixing the matter up. It now transpires that Ratana'e final advice 'to his followers was to lie low. This they did, for yesterday not half of the natives at Ratana Pa recorded their votes. i
