H. Don Miller, second floor, Brunswick Bldgs., Queen St. NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL MEETS. I The Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association met at Wellington on Monday evening, Mr. A. T. Davies in : the chair. Application was made hy the Auckland Centre for the reinstatement to amateur status of Mr. D. P. Deere, formerly ot Taranaki. Deere, it was explained, was a good type of young athlete, and only ran professional as there was no amateur cluD in his district. ; The West Coast (North Island) Centre wrote asking If any move was being made to allot registration numbers throughout New Zealand by the New Zealand Council Instead of at present by"the various centres, ■ In order to avoid duplication of numbering. . It was decided that no steps be taken in the matter, as the present system of numI berlng was generally satisfactory. j 'Mr. -Guy gave notice of motion to move •at the annual meeting of the council: "That a sub-committee be set up to frame a rule 1 governing cycle road-racing, and that pro--1 vision be made in the said rule for a rider who establishes fastest riding time in a road race to he awarded the title when a championship is Involved." Council's Constitution, i The snb-commlttee appointed to considei ' the question' of -the council's constitution submitted a lengthy report. Mr. Davies I said that the report had been well an-o thoroughly thought out, but there was one , clause with regard to the number to be on . the executive committee that "he did not altogether agree with. The sub-committee had suggested that the executive committee should consist of ten members. Mr. Davies thought that the membership of the committee should not exceed- eight. > It was decided that the sub-committee's report be circulated among the various centres, asking them to submit their views for discussion at the annual meeting of the council.
