AUCKLAND TROTS. SPRING MEETING OPENS. IMPRINT WINS THE HANDICAP. The spring meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club opened to-day at Alexandra Park in fine but dull weather. Young Carbine, lost about 40vds at the start, but when he settled down, soon ran to the front with Royal Bob and Peter McDonald next. Young Carbine led past the stand from Royal Bob. Peter McDonald and Don Zolock. The favourite held his position along the back from Peter McDonald, which was well clear of Royal Bob and Don Zolock. Young Carbine was first to turn for home, just ahead of Peter McDonald, and the pair were well out from the others. Young Carbine then drew out to win by three lengths from Peter McDonald, which beat Don Zoloek by eight lengths. Kolmar was five lengths further back fourth, with Colonel Thorpe and Royal Bob next. Grattan Thorpe was the early leader from Bob Logan, Tannhauser, Mars. Why Worry and Pearl Fisher. Grattan Thorpe was still in charge along the back, with Bob Logan. Tannhauser. Leewood. Mars, and Why Worry next, but crossing the top. Bawldy Locanda put in a run, and was in front pasing the stand from Bob Logan. Tannhauser, Zolock Palm, Why Worry, Toil Chimes, Mars and Grattan Thorpe. Bawldy Locanda was just about half a length in front of Bob Logan, as they entered the back stretch for the last time, with Tannhauser, Zoloch Palm and Why Worry close handy of the others. The order was the same crossing the top and into the straight, where Bob Logan, under pressure, headed Bawldy Locanda, and bent him home by half a length. Countryman failed to leave the mark, and Woodvaie took command, leading into the straight, where he left his feet, and Imprint went on in charge, attended by Tolaro. Kohara, Hypo, Harold Burwood*. and Lady Joan. In this order they passed the stewards' stand. Imprint being about three lengths in front of Kohara and lalaro, which were together. When they came round again, Imprint was still the pilot from Talaro and Kohara. which were just ahead of Harold Burwood and Hypo Goldman. Lady Joan, and Countrvinaii being next. Goldman moved up nnd joined Talaro along the hack, the pair being just behind Imprint. The last named, however drew away again, and, crossing the ton' om' _H ldman ' Talaro, Harold Burwood! and Kohara as his nearest attendants The order was the same into the straight Imprint going on to win easily by a length' and a-half from Goldman, which beat Talaro by two lengths.
