BEAUTY NOTES.

(By a Paris Beauty Specialist.)

PARIS, May 27. Tremendous Importance of Water In Our Diet. Very few of us realise the tremendous importance of water in our diet. Those on the very strictest regime may driuk as much as they like; it will not add one jot to your weight. Watjr acts as a purifier in the digestive trac", washes away waste matter, and regulates the body temperature. It would be difficult for the normal individual to drink too much water. A glass of cool water after each meal, and as many between meals as convenient, will do much towards producing the clear skin for whicn every woman longs. Whenever I am feeling slightly under the weather, from any cause whatsoever. I make a practice of taking what I call "the water cure."' I keop a large pitcher of water and a glass beside mc all the time, and take frequent sips or real draughts, as the whim takes mc. all day long. Taking a glass of hot water morning and night, is an excellent habit to acquire also. A Secret For Those Who Want Rosy Cheeks. Here is a secret for those who are ambitious to have rosy cheeks, without having to depend upon a vanity case. Whether you are pale and anaemic, 01 rosy and brilliant of complexion, depends enormously on how many red corpuscles there are in your blood, and red corpuscles cannot be formed without "iron hemoglobin" —whatever that may be. At any rate we know that it can be produced byeating certain foods. Leafy vegetables have an abundant supply of iron, with spinach the very best of them all (always providing you do not ruin it with vinegar). Wholemeal bread is three or foui times as rich in iron as white bread, and raisins, as well as the yokes of eggs, are valuable.

There is another reason for eating yokes of eggs, and it applies also to butter, cream and milk, or cheese made from milk—whole milk—as well as numerous other natural foods. This reason lies in the one word, "vitamines," probably not a new one to you, since so much has recently been done in the way of vitamine propaganda. A diet containing an excess of food in which vitamines and minerals are deficient, is one of the most frequent causes of obesity. And now, assuming that you have I digested and assimilated what I have j already told you, let mc sum up in a few | words, and in a very general way. You wish to be youthful in appearance, not fat, and with rosy cheeks, red lips, bright eyes, and a general vital air. Very well, here are a few of the most important items to remember. I A List of Items. I Don't live too strenuously, but get plenty of exercise in the open air. Sleep a sufficient amount, and be sure your sleep is restful. A complete fast, taking nothing but water for an entire day every now and then, will do much to assist your stomach and your complexion. Drink two or three quarts of cool water each day. Under no circumstance eat heartily when tired. Drink practically no tea or coffee. Eat plenty of leafy vegtables, but use neither oil nor vinegar as a dressing. Plenty of uncooked sweet fruits, but no acid fruits. Carrots, turnips, parsnips, onions and raw cabbage are particularly good, the former being especially wholesome. All fried foods should be avoided like a pestilence; they will make your skin look like yellow parchment, and your nose blossom like a peony, and you won't like that, will you? Corrective Eating. Although this is a day of dieting and hygienic living, nevertheless a good many of us, all unconsciously, carry around with us a perfectly good still, and much of our energy is consumed irf producing a state of auto-intoxication. We are not breaking the law of the land, but rather every law of nature. There is nothing to counteract the effects of this worst form of "home brew," except our own will-power, and hard determination to eat less, and to eat properly combined foods. In fact, the whole story is combined in these words, corrective eating,
