HIS WORK FOR HUMANITY. LONDON, October 15. The "Morning Post" says that only a few of Professor Lefroy's intimate friends knew that he was suffering from inoperable cancer when he died from poison gas during experiments in his laboratory. He continued work knowing that his limit of life was three years. He had declared that before he died he wanted to see the death-watch beetle exterminated. The professor had told a friend a week ago that he believed he was on the track of a substance which would sj> treat wood as to make it impossible for insects to breed _iv it— (A. aod X.Z. Cable.)
