BOXING.
THE ELMOUR-PTJRDY BOUT
The Auckland champion lightweight professional, Charley Purdy, will make another appearance at the Town Hall on Monday night, when he has been matched by the Northern Boxing Association to contest a 15-round 'bout with the French welterweight Dick Elmour, for a purse of £150. In view of the fact that Elmour bag beaten Jimmy Allen, who drew with Purdy at Sydney, and is reputed to be a hard hitter, the bout Iβ expected to give Purdy the most severe testing he has yet experienced locally In the ring since his retnrn from the Olympic Games, when he was an amateur.
A number of amateur bouts are included in the programme, and as several very clever and hard-hitting boys are down in the bill of fare, some of them being promising youngsters from the country distriete, patrons are assured of an excellent night'e sport apart from the interest naturally taken in the big professional bout.
The amateur bouts will be as follow :— Light-weights, M. Franks v. B. Purdy S. Barclay v. T. Rickards and B. Recce r. Bishara. Middle-weights. K. Stewart v. W. McLean. Flyweigths, N. Cammick v. C. Verrall.
