BREACH OF PROMISE.
WIDOW AWARDED £2000. SYDNEY, October 14. Another breach of promise case was heard in Sydney to-day. Mrs- Elaine Myra Henderson, a young widow, sued Matthew Jefferson Baper, flip voutliful son of wealthy parents, for £5000 damages. Plaintiff's case was that, under repeated promises of marriage, defendant took advantage of the engagement to injure her seriously. He then repudiated his promise. No evidence for the defence was called. The jury awarded plaintiff £2000 damages.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
