Gold Plane has finished her racing career and is to be mated with Snow Kin™. Miss Mplva. (H. Tinkerl was schooled over six hurdles at Ellerslie this morning and acquitted herself well. King Amans (S. Walls) jumped a couple of hurdles at Ellerslie this morning, while Farndon (Carmont) was tried for the first time over one, and shaped fairly. A filly by Komeo from Taiamai, owner by the Hon. E. W. Alison, has reeentlj been broken and is now working at Eller "slie under W. J. Wilson. She is a gooc looking youngster though a bit on thf small side. Her dam was a good -per- } former in her day. Praiseworthy has recently been put tc hurdling and in his efforts so far has acquitted himself well. .This morninj with Eegan in the saddle and the pact on, he went over a couple in good style The Puritan is the name claimed bj Mr. E. W. Alison Jnr. for the colt bj , Poitrel from The Quaker Girl. The fut ' sister to Queen March in >?. Cunning ham's stable will be known as Marci Away. H. Wiggins will go to the Waverlej meeting, where he will Tide Avola, Vaward, Sea Star and Troilus. H« vr\] then attend the Poverty Bay Tur! Club'c meeting, where he will pilot Prin cess Eonnie and Princess Ngata. f I Princess Ronnie and Jeanette will b< f 6ent to Gisborne on Tuesday for the t Poverty Bay Turf Club's meeting 1 Jeanette, -which is a member of J Buchanan's team is to stay in Gisborne She is owned by Mr. F. Hall. W. H. Jones wil do the Taratihi-Carter ton and Wellington meetings. At tht former fixture he will be on Tinohan Santiago and Peggy Ford and at Welling ' ton will ride Phoenix Park, Oreum Motley, Royal Mint, and Lackland. It appears certain that Te Kara -will gc to Wellington for R. McTavisb. has beer engaged to ride him there, and if he is started in the New Zealand Cup the same horseman wil have the mount. This rider will also be on The Thorn at Tren- ' .tham. Clarus, Corinax and Odin -were sprinted three furlongs on the course proper a< Ellerslie this -morning, Claruß being in front at the finish. Clarus has showi come pace in his galops at Ellerslie anc looks as though he will be one of tht best of the youngsters here before tht season is concluded. The Royal Soult colt in W. Pattereon's team and Uralla eprinted dowi the straight nn the sand at Ellerslie this morning, and the youngster acquitted himself well. When he was first brought to the track some weeks ago this eoli showed promise, but owing to contract ing a cold had to be eased in his work. The Puritan (Poitrel—The Quakei Girl), Nassack (Nassau —Cassock) an< March Away (Lucillus-March) "wen sprinted on the two-year-old track a Ellerslie this morning. They all finishes together but were not hurried. Thi Lucullus and Some Boy II representativ, in T. George's stable were also sent ove a couple of furlongs. Lady Rpwa. which was trained by E Pope at Ellerslie, has broken down am is to be sent to the stud. She will b mated with Prince Merriwee. As a two year-old Lady Rewa won three races— the Euakura Stakes at Hamilton, am the Rakino and Hobson Handicaps a Takapuna—while she was placed in othe: races. She only ran into a place on& last season. An interesting piece of schooling worl was accomplished at Ellerslie this morn ing, when Sir Rosebery (Garrett) Birkenella (Henderson) and Miss Lucci set out over eight hurdles. Sir Roseberj was in front over the first four, and thei allowed Miss Lucca to run up alongsidi him, but Sir Rosebery was leading whet the last hurdle was negotiated. Aftei doing sis hurdles Birkenella was pullec up. Owners and trainers are reminded tha , general entries for the Auckland Racinj Club's spring meeting and forfeits fo; the Oreat Northern Guineas and Welcomt Stakes close with the secretary (Mr. W S. Spence) at 5 p.m. to-morrow. Nomi nations are also due at the same timi for the following events to be run a the club's summer meeting: Aucklanc Cup, Railway Handicap, Summer Cup Racing Club Handicap, Grandstand Han dicap, King's Plate, and Clifford Plate. Elmestra, a gelding in W. Tozer' 6table, by Hymettus-Elizabeth, was trie* over the pony hurdles at Ellerslie thi morning. C. Carmont was in the eaddl and this was Elmestra's first attempt i this department of the game. He marc aged to get over all right. Sea Cornel which has recently joined C. Coleman' team, was also given a trial over fou pony hurdles with E. Warner in th saddle. This was also his first attemp and he shaped fairly well for a beginnei Concerning the A.J.C. Derby "Pilot ■says: "I heard it stated that Manfred' time for the mile and a-half was 2.28} hut it is probable the watchholders wer too astonished when he stopped at th post to accurately time him when he di< get away. Still, he must have dom something wonderful, and he completel; outclassed his opponents. The value o the stake to Mr. Chaffey was £6523, an< an additional £400 from the club goes ti the colt's breeders, Messrs. W. and F. A Moses. Manfred, which cost Mr. B. Chaf fey 1400g-a as a yearling, is by Valais as is Heroic, winner of last year's A.J.C Derby. Manfred is out of Otford (Tres •sady—Otterform), and as his breedin; on the maternal side decidedly favour him as a stayer, I have never been abL to understand the doubts thrown on hin on that score."

Royal Present and Polonett went a round on the sand at Ellerslie this morning in 1.40 4-5. Dalmeny, -which raced without success at the Wellington Trotting Club's meeting, is to be treated to a few ■weeks' spell. Auburn (Fielding) and Marble Slab (Rae), were schooled over a couple of hurdles twice at Ellerslie this morning and jumped all right, finishing together. The Australian pacer, His Pal, which was placed in W. Kelsey's stable when brought across by A. Rhodes, is now being prepared in the south by W. J. Tomkinson. On Saturday last at Christchureh Kohara and Ahuriri were responsible for a ' pleasing work-out over two i miles. Kohara is a genuine pacer and lis sure to be prominent at the Aucki land meeting. I The New Zealand Trotting Cup canI didate, Away, is said to be causing his i trainer, E. C McDermott, some anxiety, I and it is doubtful whether the pacer I will stand the severe test to fit him for such a big race. I O. E. Hooper intended bringing ! Audacious to Auckland to compete at J the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting, i but while doing a workout at the end jof last week the horse struck himself, i hence his withdrawal from his engagements. Town Bank was again sprinted on the outside of the course proper this morning at Ellerslie, running half a mile in 52 2-ss. This horse appears as though he is returning to form. When properly right he is a useful sort. A patron of J. J. Kennerley's stable recently offered a sum running into four figures for the Australian pacer, Harold Pronto, but no business resulted. Harold Pronto is mentioned by Sydney writers as certain to make the trip to the Dominion shortly. The southern writer, "Argus," says that both J. Bryce's New Zealand Trotting Cup candidates, Great Hope and Ahuriri, are bowling along in fine style, and the opinion is growing that Ahuriri is likely to play a prominent part in the decision of the big race in November. I ""™"~~^ L. Manson, who received injuries when Judge's Box fell with him at the recent Avondale meeting, and who in consequence has been in hospital for some time, is about again, and was at Ellerslie this morning. He expects to be able to ride at the Waikato Hunt Club's meeting on Labour Day. Marble Town, in F. Stenning's stable, has gone wrong in one of her knees, and is to go home. She will be sent to the stud, and will be mated with Valkyrian. Marble Town, which is a full-sister to Sir Archie, showed some promise last season, when she ran into a place on each day of the Ohinemuri meeting. Since Snowshoe arrived from Sydney a few weeks ago he has been given steady work by P. Paddle, but now that trainer has started to send the New Zealand Cup candidate along in earnest. I Snowshoe is a speedy horse, and a fine I stayer, but he is not reliable and in j several of his races he has left >is feet and settled his prospects. Serene, which is furnishing into & finelooking horse, 13 to have a short spell. Purple Lilac may accompany the crack two-year-old Commendation to Trentham, but J. Jones will take only the two-year-old to Riccarton. There is- no doubt that Commendation looks the part (says "Vedetti"), while he is a sweet galloper, covering the ground with giant strides with the minimum of effort. Racing is uncertain business, but something extra good will have to be produced in the Wellesley Stakes to make him gallop. One of the most promising of the maiden trotters seen in Auckland for some time is Coal King, a four-year-old 'by Nelson Bingen—Duchess of Rothschild. He is as yet very green and not nearly ready to show his best, but he is a big gelding with a great stride, and for a novice handles himself well. He is being put through his education by A. McSweeney, and the latter has hopes of the gelding being a bit above the ordinary later on. He is owned by Mr. J. Burke, whose office in the British Buildings was the scene of a fire on Tuesday night. Quite a sensation wae caused at Wingatui on Saturday by Bachelor Gay's frantic boltings and his valiant struggle in the race after one of his legs was badly hurt. Rumours to €he effect that the horse had to be destroyed or. had died from the effects of his injuries were being freely circulated, and the owner (Mr. B. S. Irwin) has received many "telephone messages of condolence. As a matter of fact, Bachelor Gay is in a paddock thinking more of enjoying a good feed that of his hurt leg. Certainly he has bruised the stifle, but there is I nothing broken, and the veterinary surgeon is now of the opinion that it will not be very long before Bachelor Gay is again appearing in public. Out of eight starts Bachelor Gay has four wins and I four seconds. The New South Wales bred gelding Aspect, which has been disqualified for life for having been rung in as Grattanost, had a 2.12 record, made at Victoria Park. He was taken to several meetings at Victorian country courses, and once failed to do 2.40. He was later offered at auction at Melbourne, and purchased for £22 10/. Later he was taken to Launceston, and was registered as a 'brown gelding, by Gfattan Bells from a mare by Osterley. His best winning record was stated to be 2.24£ rate, for 10 furlongs, at Pirron Yallock, Victoria, on February 28, 1925. For a big event at Launceston he was handicapped on 24yd, being set 3.40 for a mile and a half. That race should have been a gift for him, but the trotting authorities seized him a few days before race day. Life disqualification for Aspect, alias Grattanost, I was imposed, and the owner, who ■ bought him at auction, was .exonerated ' from any wrongdoing. The gelding now bears J he Victorian Trotting Association's brand—D over line with VIC under line—on both sides on the neck. 'The New South Wales Trotting Club has been notified by the Victorian Trotting and Racing Association to that effect. That is the termination of the sensational period of Aspect's career, for probably he will never be heard of any more. Just after Aspect began to win and developed high speed, I th? price asked by his owner. Mr. E. l<. I McDonald, of Sydney, was £750.

Master Doon seems to be going along all right in his work at Ellerslie, and moved nicely in a couple of sprints at Ellerslie this morning. v It is a bit doubtful who -will ride horses from the E. George stable in future, but possibly it will be found that Jack Barry will have the mounts. Weights for the Stewards' Handicap are due next Tuesday. The winner of the open sprint event at Trentham is not liable for rehandicap if engaged in the Stewards' Handicap. Son o' Mine is a disappointing gelding, which hardly runs up to his track form. He had every chance to win a race at Masterton, but did not put up a fight when tackled by Musical. Finland would not be proud of his son. The break that L. A. Pine sustained to an arm at Masterton when Musical fell with him the first day is a clean one, and it will mend well. All the same, he will be out of the saddle for some weeks—busy weeke, too. This means that another rider has to be secured for Deluge. Motley, Lysander and The Thorn at Trentham.
