LABOUR DAY CARNIVAL.

■ FOOTBALL MATCH ARRANGED. The committee in charge of the Labour Day celebrations have drawn up an attractive three-days' programme to cover Saturday, October 24, Sunday, 25, and Monday, 26. In addition to the usual attractions held last year, arrangements have been made to play a football match on the Saturday between the Ponsonby and Marist Bros. League teams, the players on the -winning side to each receive a gold medal. On the Sunday the various Labour candidates for Parliamentary honours -will gather at Carla-w Park and deliver addresses, and there -will be an excellent programme of music and vocal items. On the Saturday and Monday evenings Carlaw Park "will be a flood of light, as no expense is being spared in this respect. The committee is arranging more comic items than last year, and the carnival promises to provide much entertainment.
