JUSTICES DISAGREE.
DISPUTE OVER ELECTION
AUCKLAND DELEGATES RETIRE. (lij- Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The atmosphere of the annual con« ference of the Federation of Honorary Justices' Association of New Zealand, held at Christchurch, became somewhat heated last evening when the subject of amendments to the rules came up. At present the rules state that th« council shall elect officers of the federation from among their own members. The registrar, Mr. I. Salek, proposed "That the conference should elect tha officers." The subject was debated for ah hour, Auckland members contending that it was robbing the council of its powers. Many attempts were made to clear the air, and finally a resolution i was carried: "That the debate on the I subject be adjourned until next day." "Wellj you can run your affairs your own way. Just do as you like," said Mr. Salek.
"Have we your permission to retire?" asked the Auckland delegates. The chairman granted permission, and the Auckland members left the room.
