TIPS TAKEN. NO CIVILITY.

EXCLUSIVE CLUB. NEW YORK, October 6. At the exclusive and expensive Broadway Club, patronised by cabaret waiters, members were held up by six bandits.

In the small hours, 60 waiters had gathered together for relaxation after their well-paid labours.

They were in the card room with all eyes intent on a roulette table covered with piles of high denomination dollar bills, when the door was thrust open. Six masked men, holding automatic pistols, walked in and lined the waiters against the walls.

Two of the masked intruders shovelled the notes into a suitcase while the clubmen stood with their palms up. The bandits then left, locking the door behind them.

With them they took £2400, which they had gained in less time than it takes a waiter to earn a £1 tip.
