N.S.W. LOCAL INDUSTRY.
REDUCTION OF DUTIES. (Received 11 a.m.) • SYDNEY, this day. The ComDtroller of Customs estimates that about" £500,000 should be saved to local manufacturers and consumers by the reduction of duties which he recommended to the Tariff Board yesterday. These recommendations follow the Government's policy of relieving local manufacturers of penalties on imported raw materials, the only object of which was to produce revenue and consumption of imports which enhanced the cost of living.—(A. and N.Z.
