SOUTH SEAS EXHIBITION.
AUCKLAND'S FINANCIAL SUPPORT. £_ THREE SUMS OP f 100 DONATED. A special meeting of the Auckland Industrial Association was held yesterday afternoon, to consider whether a sum of money should be voted towards the Auckland Provincial Court at the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition. After explaining that there was a shortage of funds amounting to ££000, Mr. J, A. C. AHum (president) moved; "That the Auckland Industrial Association vote the sum of £100 towards the cost of the Auckland Provincial Court at the Exhibition, in order that the products of the district may be adequately displayed; that the money be donated subject to the Chamber of Commerce and the A. and P. Society voting a similar sum." This was seconded by Mr. Hills, and carried unanimously. Subsequently a special meeting of the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce was held to receive a deputation from the executive of the Auckland Exhibition committee seeking a similar donation. Messrs. Hills and A. Burt were the principal speakers and urged the chamber to reconsider their previous decision not to contribute towards the object. The chairman (Mr. E, L. Stewart) thanked the deputation for attending and said the matter would receive favourable consideration. At a later stage it was moved, seconded and. carried that the previous resolution against giving a donation be rescinded. After a considerable discussion Jt was finally decided to donate the sum of £100. Later in the day the president of the Industrial Association was advised that the committee of the Auckland Racing Club had given a donation of £100 for the same object.
