ITALIAN BRIDGE SMASH. DIVE INTO CATARACT. ROME, October 12. The railway disaster at Catanzaro on Saturday was a sequel to a disastrous Btorm and series of cloudbursts which ravaged Calabria, flooded wide areas, anil destroyed many farmsteads. The traiu was proceeding by night through a lieavy rainstorm. Tt was crossing the River Ponzo when the trestles of the bridge collapsed. The locomotive and the leading coach dived into the cataract below and were ene'ulfed. Xumbera of the nassentrers were drowned.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
