POISON IN MOTHBALLS. DEATH OF A CHILD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAXGAXUI, this day. The eating of a mothball, which she J found in a drawer in a bedroom, and ■ mistook for a lollie, was the cause or the death, of Patricia Caroline Howard, aged two years and eight months, whici., occurred in Belverdale Private Hospital' on October 9. At an inquest this morning, the Coroner, Mr. Barton, S.M., said publio interest would Ire served by giving ! publicity to certain facts. The evidence j showed that an ingredient of a mothball I -was napthaline. It is not well recognised among3t poisons, and its action was somewhat obscure. He found that the J child died as the result of the corrosive j and toxic effects of nathaliue, j accidentally swallowed.
