ACCLIMATISATION AFFAIRS.

MEETING OF THE COUXCIL

There were present at the last council meeting of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society the following members: —Messrs C. A. Whitney (chairman), Capt. Tancred, J. E. Elliott, J. C. Whitney, Wm. Cook, H. Clinton Savage, T. S. Withers, F. McKenzie (Thames), C. Smith (Miranda), G. Kelly (Patetonga), A. Parish (Waitemata), W. W. Livingstone, (Matamata), C. Le Dez (Welsford). The chairman welcomed Mr. Clinton Savage as the new member of the council. Mr. Thomas Bray of Raglan reported that a strong branch of the Society had been formed at Raglan to be called the Raglan Acclimatisation and Game Conservation Club, and asked for a charter. This was granted. It was arranged with Mr Jack Holmes to supply a number of pheasants' eggs for the Society. Miss Holmes reported that the pheasants had started to lay and arrangements were made for the allocation of them and for the distribution in suitable packages to ensure safety. The Society's ranger reported that the distribution of trout fry was almost completed, but a delay was necessary as the fry would require another week or ten days to be ready for final distribution The sale or lease of the Game Farm at Pukekohe was considered and a committee formed to further the disposal of it.
