TWO CARS COLLIDE.
SMASH IN ONEHUNGA.
LADY SERIOUSLY INJURED. | DRIVER CHARGED WITH j DRUNKENNESS. A collision between two five-seater; motor cars took place last evening at : the corner of Selwyn and Trafalgar Streets, Onehunga. One car was driven by Dr. .. L. ; Harke, who was proceeding towards Onehunga. and was in the act of turning into Selwyn Street on his right, out of Trafalgar Street, while the other oar. in, charge of Mr. W. ■]. Duffin. was travelling along Trafalgar Street from Onehunga. They collided, with the result that Mr 9. S. Horspool. of 108. Carlton Gore Road., was admitted to tiie hospital shortly 1 after ~ o'clock, suifering from a severe scalp wound, and a deep wound in her. knee. Dr. Harke's car was liadiy smashed. ; both wheels being torn oil. and the bodyi considerably damaged. The other car. in: which Mrs. Horspool was a passenger.! had its radiator crushed, and the lamps I broken. This morning Alfred Edward Duffin j appeared before Messrs. J. E. Cowell and' •T-. Laking. J.P.'s. at the Onehunga] Police Court, and pleaded not guilty' wh-en charged with drunkenness last night while in charge of a motor S vehicle in Trafalgar Street. Onehunga. Defendant asked for a week's remand and for bail. Sergeant ,J. A. Cruickshank asked that! the bail, if granted, be made substantial,! as Duffin had been in trouble before.
