ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.
DOMINION'S CLEARING HOUSE. Apparently lucre have been suggestions that the venue of Canterbury's famous stock market should be changed, for in their annual review, just published, Pyne, Gold, Guiness, Ltd., comment as follow: — "Again during tlie pa*, season the fact has boon amply demonstrated that the Addin-gton _ra_*yard_ is the clearing house of the Dominion for store, sheep. All parts of the Dominion contributed to -tlie offering:. Many thousands of breeding ewes were shipped from Poverty Bay, and other lines arrived by steamer and rail from distant parts. No matter what the class or condition of tho sheep yarded at Addington, there an- always buyers ready and willing to operate at a price. In view of the wide influence of tho market, it is regrettable that the agitation for tlie removal of the yards to a spot more distant from the city has not altogether died out. The great majority of those who have watched tho yards grow in importance in the past half century would deplore any interference with the location of the bi« ■market.'' • °
