THE MINISTER FOR LANDS.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) MARTON, this day. The Hon. A. D. McLeod. at Hunterville last evening, denounced the opponents of the Government on taxation, pensions, hospitals and other matters. He said that they did not advocate reductions on pensions and hospital expenditure from the platform, where they were afraid to do so. He repudiated the accusation that he had caused a breakdown of the fusion negotiations. The Liberals had no policy, and the coming fight woulod be between Reform and Labour. He dealt with the probability of a new loan of three or four millions for housing. He advocated thrift for young people, as the State could not well meet all claims for assistance unless the people cooperated. He was accorded a rousing reception.
