A FIRST BOND.
UNIVERSITY AND TRADE. "This is the commencement of a bond between the university and the business world," said Dr. J. Hight, at the meeting of the Board of Governors of Canterbury College on Tuesday, when it wa3 considering the following recommendation: "That a letter of thanks be sent to the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce for its donation to the college of .the sum of £100. This donation has been made in recognition of the assistance given by the Economics Department of the college in the preparation of bulletins of economic information." Dr. Hight said that the department was as yet in an experimental state, but ho predicted that it would develop rapidly. The bulletins which had been issued were now out of print. There had been a demand for them all over i'ew Zealand, in Australia, and even iv America. The economics Department and the Chamber of Commerce were to be congratulated on the wido vision diown, in appreciating the use to which the college might be put. The recommendation was adopted.
