MADMAN WITH A RIFLE.
THREE SHOT DEAD. DRIVEN OUT WITH GAS BOMBS. •(Received 2.30 p.m.) • LONDON, September 5. The "Daily Telegraph's" Paries correspondent states that in consequence of a night attack by a footpad resulting in shock, Andre Gautier of the Albi-in-Tarn Department, "became obsessed with the idea that lie was the subject' of Communist persecution. Yesterday he went completely insane, and barricaded himself in a house. He fired at passers by, killing two children and seriously wounding two other people. When the police arrived he fired at them, but eventually was driven out with gas bombs. A street battle followed, the madman shooting wildly until a policeman with a borrowed rifle shot him dead.—(A, and N.Zv Cable-.)
