THE MINING TRUCE.
HEW DISPUTE IMMINENT. LONDON, September 4. The "Daily Herald," the organ of tbe Labour party, says that a new mining crisis is developing, owing to the owners' interpretation of t u *. recent truce. The miners were under tbe impression, the paper states, that their.waffes would not be reduced, but the owners, it is asserted, claim that the truce provision that wages should not be reduced below tbe scale of the 1024 agreement is being honoured because tbe 1924 agreement fixed the percentages to be devoted to wa<zes. but left the district basic rates op?n to variation. ■Mr. A. J. Cook, secretary of . the Miners* Federation, says that wage cuts have already been made in several districts. The owners' action, it is alleged, is creating a situation of extreme delicacy.
