TRADE WITH RUSSIA.
DELEGATION IN FRANCE. LONG CREDIT WANTED. (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, September 4., The Paris correspondent of the "Times" reports that the Russian trade delegation which recently visited Lancashire, arrived in Paris, where it commenced negotiations on an equally lordly scale. It announced that it was prepared to purchase machinery and textiles to the total of 40,000,000 francs. Their purchases in Western "Europe total £12,000,000 for textiles. They asked only six months' credit, which the French manufacturers were willing to give, but it is understood the amount thus to be expended would be very small. For machinery they want credit for from two to five years, which the-firms approached declare is quite impossible. There is talk of forming a special bank facilitating these transactions, but existing banks will be no party to such ' a scheme, which is unlikely to materialise.— ("Times.")
