CITY COUNCIL'S DECISION.
"As the ratepayers have been invited in many directions to contribute individually, the Council regrets that it is unable to comply with the request for a donation." Such is 'the essence of the reply to be forwarded to Mr. Clutlia N. Mackenzie by the City Council, in response to his request for a donation towards the cost of additions to the Jubilee Institute for the Blind. The Finance and Legal Committee recommended that the above reply should be sent, and the recommendation was adopted, Mr. T. Bloodworth deploring the fact that the Council could not see its -way to made some sort of donation, small, though it might be.
