MESOPOTAMIA MANDATE.
BRITAIN WILLING TO HOLD. EXPENDITURE TO CEASE. (Received il a.m.) LONDON, September 2. Mr. L. C. M. S. Amery (Secretary of State for the Dominions) will inform the League of Nations that Britain is willing to retain the Mesopotamia mandate, but it is expected that arrangements will be made to cease expenditure later.— (A. and 2s.Z. Cable.) IRAQ AND BRITAIN. FEELING OF FRIENDSHIP. (Received 1.30 p.m.) BAGDAD, September 2. The Iraq Parliament, at a special session, passed a resolution that the Iraq nation, represented by Parliament, declares a strong friendship towards Great Britain, and expresses a. desire to continue the alliance after the expiry of the present treaty.— (A. and N.Z.)
