NEW POLICE FORCE.
WAR DEPARTMENT UNIT. PERTURBATION AT HOME. LOXDOX, September 2. . The Labour organ, the "Daily Herald," under the headings "Government's Xew Civilian Army," "Against Whom?" iiuotes an Army order in -which a call is made for recruits between the ages of 25 and 45 divided into three grades of supervising constables. The order sa.vs each War Department constable will be employed and paid by that department. He will be sworn in as a. special constable and have powers of lawful arrest. Xo member of the War Department constabulary may be a member of any trade union or any similar union, association or society, other than any formed within the constabulary. The '"Herald" suggests that this force is aimed directly against unionists, and in that connection refers to the expiry of the coal truce on May 1, 1926. Regarding this possibilities of trouble are hinted "at.— (A. and X.Z. Cable.) ARREST_Cf REDS. COMMUNISM IN RUMANIA. BUCHAREST, September 2. Twenty-eight members of the committees of Communist unions, who -were holding secret meetings in Bucharest, have been arrested. They had announced the holding of an intensive propaganda campaign during the elections of the Labour Councils. — (Reuter.)
