GORGE TRAFFIC BLOCKED. EXEMPLARY SENTENCES. (By Xelegranh.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Early last evening motor trafiic' in Njriil>aura?i{m Oorpe was blocked for a iiine by three large motor lorries, which wore proceeding from Wellington to Pulmerston North. Complaint was made to a constable at .Tohnsonville, who, on arrival of the lorries then*, arrested Stephen Hαveil, Kenneth Havell, and Johnston Walton, drivers, who were charged with bcmjT intoxicated. liv-.the spol'ce court thieiSttornine Mr. .Rii|dell ( S.M., said the matter eoulclnot bo'Over-j looked, and that the penalty would have' to be increased, as cases of this sort were coming before the court every- day. For drunkenness he fined Stephen Havell and Walton £20 each, and sentenced Kenneth Havell to seven days on charges of assaulting a constable , . He also fiiiod each defendant £3. Kenneth Havell's liocnsp was suspended for three months, the others for one month.
