FERRY TIME-TABLES.

BIRKENHEAD-NOETHCOTE RUN COMPANY'S REPLY TO PROPOSALS. Tho Devonport Steam Ferry Company intimated to the Birkenhead Borough Council last evening, that a number of the recommendations demanded by the joint deputation of the Northcote and Birkenhead councils, could not at present bo conceded. The however, was prepared to give effect to some alterations, and additions to, the existing time-table. The 3 p.m. trip from Auckland, which now went direct to Chelsea, calling "at Birkenhead and Northcote on the return journey, would be altered so that the steamer would call on the up trip at ' Northcote and Birkenhead and Chelsea, and on the return down trip would call at Northcote wharf only (omitting calling at Birkenhead. The present night tiine-tablo would be continued, with the addition on Friday and Saturday of each week, of a trip leaving Birkenhead at 10.45 p.m., and Auckland at 11.30 p.m. The suggestion that the trip from Birkenhead start at 10.45 p.m. instead of 11 p.m., was to allow a sufficient margin of time to enable passengers to # catch tho last tram. ~& Alternatively, should the councils so' desire, the company was prepared to alter the night time-table so that the last trip from Birkenhead would be 10.45 p.m. or 11 p.m., as determined, and the last trip from Auckland at 11.30 p.m. An improvised Sunday morning service would be run, boats leaving Birkenhoad at 8, 9, and 10 o'clock and from Auckland at 8.30, 9.30, and 10.30 o'clock. If the council approved, the 0.10 p.m. from Birkenhead could be started at 0.15 p.m. The suggestion to alter the starting time of the 5.45 p.m. trip from Auckland to 5.50 p.m., could be carried out. The request to set out the vehicular time-table as an addition to the passenger steamer time-table, .would be complied with. Careful consideration would be given to the request for extra vehicular trips on Sunday morning, when framing the summer tinje-table, ajjd also on Saturday afternoons. The communication was referred to .a further conference of the two councils.
