SHEEPOWNERS' FUND.
The monthly meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Sheepowners' Acknowledgement of Debt to British Seamen Fund,-was held on Tuesday.
Consideration was given to 24 applications for assistance from disabled sailors, and dependents and grants amounting to £351 were made.
The report of the manager of Flock House stated that 79 lads had now been placed out in good employment On farms-and stations after completing their training at Flock House, 34 boys were now in residence and would go out to employment in October and November. The fifth draft of 34 boys would arrive by the S.s. Hororata, reaching Flock House about the 27th irist.
The thanks of the trustees were recorded to Mr. Frank Armstrong for his gift of a stud Aberdeen Angus bull and 10 stud heifers.
The details of the proposed scheme for the transfer to New Zealand and training in domestic and farm duties of orphaned daughters of British seamen were closely gone into, and correspondence read with the leading officials of a women's organisation who had been asked to assist. It was decided that provided the finance was available by the transfer to the fund of the balance of the surplus wool profits how in the hands of the Government, and which the New Zealand Farmers' Union and New Zealand Shipowners' Federation had requested, should be transferred to the fund for this purpose, the chairman and managing trustees be empowered to meet the officials of the women's organisation in conference, and to conclude arrangements for a commencement of this work, all details arranged to be submitted to a special meeting.
