DAMAGE AT TE AROHA.
HOUSE PARTLY "UNROOFED. VERANDAHS AND TREES BLOWN DOWN. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star. , ") TE AROHA, this day. Heavy rain set in yesterday afternoon, combined with strong winds, increasing at midnight to almost hurricane force. Fences and trees were blown down. In the early hours of this niorning a house occvipied by Mr. Devey, in Rewi Street, lost a portion of its roof. The occupants were not hurt. On the outskirts of Te Aroha haystacks were blown over and a portion of the electric light system of Te Aroha borough was interrupted. Timber ■which was stacked for the erection of a newbuilding was strewn a distance of 50 yards. Verandahs were blown down, and milk cans on Te Aroha railway station I platform were lifted bodily and de- ! posited on the railway line. There was a torrential downpour of rain all night.
