NOTES FROM CANTERBURY.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRICTCHURCH, Tuesday. Of the horses engaged in the America Stakes (free-for-all) at the Auckland Fleet Meeting, eight are trained in the South Island, and it all of them go to the post it will cost the club £240 for travelling: expenses, as the programme stipulates that £30 a horse will be allowed ror Southern horses that compote in the race. Great Bingen has made a good recovery from the lamenese which placed him out of commission lor a couple of days last week, and he will l'ullll his engagements at the coming- meeting:. Canterbury owned and trained horses are freely engaged at the Auckland Trotting Club's Fteet Meeting. Among- those having representatives are: W. J. Tompkinson (Mlnton Derby, Bell Harold, IS'apland, Nelson Derby, and Percy Dillon), J. J. Kennerley (Logan Chief, Pedro Pronto, Fight Ever, and Clonmel), P. Riddle (Sheik, Orion, and Young Blake), M. Edwards (Black Admiral, General Bingen, and Dalnahine), N. Burgess (Bessie Logan), A. Hendrlksen (Billy Sea), J. Bryce (Taurekareka, Great Hope, and Ivy Audubon), J. Messervey (Onyx), G. S. Smith (La Fayette). The Addington track is still heavy, and times will be slow to-morrow, but a great Improvement should be seen If the prevailing weather Holds good to the end or the week.
