YACHTING.
j t m SANDERS CUP-WINNER'S DESIGN. (To the Editor.) Sir. The letter in Saturday's "Star" re I Sanders C«p boat design by "Fairness," I srems to place the Otngo yachtsmen in a ' very bad licht. Many people now are under the' impression that the lona won the cup by no othpr virtue thnn that of being an infrin"en:ent of the rules governing the i class. Should not Mr. E. J. Kelly hart made it quite clear that the lona is peri fpctl.v eligible to race for the cup. aa sh* was built prior to the foolish adoption of the Rona design. I think it very unfair to create the impression here that the Sanders Cup was carried away to the i South by nny other than the most sports* i manlike 'tactic?. The majority of Auckland yachtsmen know that the Dunedln crew gained their victory by consistent and cleTep hanilins of their little boat, and every credit U due to them for beating the Auck« land boat in her own waters.—l am, etc., COL. H. WILD.
