GETTING A GOOD LOOK.
TWO CROWDS OF ONE.
BEST SFOT IN THE HARBOUR.
On the northern side of the harbour the headlands were clustered with spectators from Victoria wharf, Devonport, round to Cheltenham beach, a very large crowd being on Mt. Victoria, while on the town side the welcoming crowds hived on various points between Campbell Point and the wharves, which were densely crowded. The roofs of high buildings afforded vantage points for fortunate persons, but others not favoured by fortune schemed out for themselves some striking viewpoints. For instance, one man pulled his dinghy out to the sandspit beacon, where all the warships passed him in review, within speaking distance. Another victim of a brain wave made a longer row-boat journey to Beam Rock light, and he also was able to sit comfortably on an imcrowded platform and smoke meditatively in splendid isolation as the battleship line went past his dais.
