WELLINGTON, this day.

Mr. T. M. Wilford. replying to the Prime Minister's statement re fusion negotiations last week, as to dates on which he (Mr. Coates) conferred with Mr. Wilford, says they are correct, but what he intended to convey, but perhaps did not clearly do so. was that he did not sc£ Mr. Coates to discuss fusion until after correspondence, declaring fusion impracticable on July 7 had been received by him. and after* he had written to Mr. Coates on July 9, telling him that he had ended it."
