SOME THRILLING GAMES.
NEW YORK, August 1. Pittstmrg were nosed out of first place in the National League, when Philadelphia won a double-header from the Pirates. New York Giants, beating St. Louis Cardinals, moved into the lead, having a percentage of 598 against the Pirates' 596. Grimes held Chicago Cube to seven hits, while Old Zack Wheat batted five safeties, winning for Brooklyn 7 to 1. Cincinnati Reds took the eighth consecutive game from Boston 6 to 5 in a thirteen innings game. Ctiicago won a thrilling fifteen innings game from Philadelphia .Athletics. St. Louis beat Red Sox 5 to 2, Bush pitching masterfully. Bob Meusel drove in four runs with his twenty-second homer for the season, the New York Yankees winning the fourth straight game- against Cleveland Indians, 8 to 3.
